Georgie was more than deserving of patient of the month for August.

She is a diabetic whose blood sugar levels took some time to control. With many trips to the vets for lots of blood tests she is finally now on an insulin and management regime that is suitable! Yay! 🥳

She has been such a good girl throughout and has been so trusting of us, even when away from her owners and with her limited vision.

Georgie will continue to be carefully monitored by her dedicated owners and by our veterinary team, but we hope she can have a good period of time at home now, enjoying her senior years in comfort. We also hope she enjoys her party pack!

🐾Diabetes in dogs is caused by the body not making enough insulin, or not using it properly. This means sugar builds up in the blood instead of being used for energy.

🤒Common signs include:
• Drinking and peeing more
• Increased appetite
• Weight loss
• Low energy

Our experienced nurses run monthly puppy and kitten checks up until 6 months old that you can sign up to after your first visit to the vet. This can be a great opportunity to get them used to having a clinical exam, standing on the table, having feet and ears touched, and a chance for the nurses to check their health, teeth, discuss feeding and training, update their weights on their records to maintain their parasite control prescriptions and plenty more!
