At Broxbourne Veterinary Centre, we’re proud to offer DogStem® — the first licensed stem cell therapy for dogs with osteoarthritis of the hip and elbow. This innovative treatment is changing how we help dogs with chronic joint pain.

Osteoarthritis is one of the most common causes of stiffness, pain and reduced mobility in dogs, especially as they get older. Traditional treatments often target symptoms, but DogStem takes a new approach by working locally in the joint to help reduce pain and inflammation at the source.

🐱 What is a Lip-to-Lid Transposition?

It’s an advanced reconstructive eye surgery where tissue from the lip margin is used to rebuild part of the eyelid. The lip edge is chosen because it closely matches the eyelid’s natural structure.

It was recently performed by Roza, Advanced Practitioner in Ophthalmology, here at Broxbourne Veterinary Centre as part of our growing range of advanced services.

🔍 When is surgery needed?

It is used when a cat has lost the majority of their eyelid due to:
Eyelid tumour removal
Trauma
Congenital defects

Irritation from hair regrowth
Wound breakdown

Need for further corrective procedures

We see Bluebell frequently here at Broxbourne Veterinary Centre for ongoing management for her ears and more recently her teeth 🦷

She had a difficult start to life but luckily she was taken on by her current owner who is very dedicated to her care, even when it becomes a long and often frustrating journey! 🫶

Broxbourne Veterinary Centre is an accredited dog friendly practice and the whole team do what they can to make a dog’s visit to the vets as stress free as possible. Bluebell had her recent pre operative visit in our dedicated nurses room set aside for animals needing a quieter space. It looks like she appreciated the comfy dog bed to go to sleep on too 😴
